Daniel Román traveled to Kyoto, Japan, and achieved one of the most complicated goals in Boxing: beating an undefeated world champion in his own backyard. The American beat Shun Kubo by TKO in the ninth round to earn the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Bantamweight Championship.

Roman went to a bout that looked very even on paper and showed his strength to weaken the champion as the rounds passed and, thus, he achieved his goal. The American managed to overwhelm his rival with his punches little by little.

The now champion managed to send Kubo to the canvas in rounds seven and eight. In the ninth round, Roman was on advantage beating his rival with all sorts of punches. In the end, the referee had to stop the actions.

The 27-year-old boxer left a record of 23 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 9 knockouts. Kubo, also 27 years old, now has a balance of 12 wins, 1 loss and 9 wins before the limit.
