On Saturday, June 27, at Polideportivo José María Vargas in La Guaira, Venezuela, Sayda “La Bomba” Mosquera (7-1-1, 5 KOs), from Darien, Panama, challenges WBA World female bantamweight champion Mayerlin “La Monita” Rivas (11-3-1, 7 KOs), from Maracaibo, Venezuela, for the WBA World female bantamweight title.

Under the watchful eye of her coach, Francisco “Tolete” Arroyo, “La Bomba” is putting the finishing touches on her training in advance of this weekend’s contest. Yesterday afternoon she did 30 minutes of roadwork, followed by 45 minutes of shadowboxing.

Rivas is also ready to rumble.

With her trainer Jorge Zerpa at her side, “La Monita” jumped rope and shadowboxed.

She, too, is in prime condition.

The weigh-in for Saturday’s fight is Friday at 11 am at Chipis Beach Hotel Playa Grande in La Guaira, Venezuela.
