WBA mourns the sensible pass away of Ken Norton

Ken Norton vs Muhammad Ali 1973On Wednesday night, the great heavyweight world champion Ken Norton said good bye, at the age of 70. Norton who had many merits and breaking Muhammad Ali’s jaw was one of them.

The World Boxing Association Boxing Family joins mourns the sensible pass away and the sadness that devastates the relatives and friends of Norton, at this difficult time.

Norton made a place in history in 1973 when he defeated Ali by split, in the first of their three fights.  It was held in San Diego where he would fracture Ali’s jaws, and several versions came out it.

Ali won the other two fights, by close margin. After San Diego, Ali won by split decision and the last one, in 1976 won again by very closed unanimous decision.

In 1977 Norton became the WBC champion when Leo Spinks did not defend his title.  He lost it in June 9, 1978 with Larry Holmes. He was never a champion again, and retired in 1981.

The WBA family deeply regrets the sensible pass away of this great champion.

Rest in Peace.
