Yesterday the Audiencia Provincial de Ayala, Spain, dismissed the EBA’s appeal.

It’s been three years since the European Boxing Association (EBA) filed suit in a Spanish court against the World Boxing Association (WBA) in the amount of 1.5 million euros, the EBA claiming that they were unfairly ousted in 2011 by the larger organization.

The EBA was first formed in the late 1990s as the Euro-African Boxing Association. Once the “African” was dropped, the organization found itself at odds with the European Boxing Union (EBU). The EBA maintained its presence with the support of the WBA until 2005, at which time a conflict ultimately resulted in the WBA severing all ties with the association.

The initial judgment went against the EBA, and they were ordered to pay the legal expenses incurred by the WBA. This Wednesday, the 20th, the Audiencia Provincial de Ayala, Spain, dismissed the EBA’s appeal.

The EBA has 20 days in which to file another appeal.
