Uchiyama Stops Miura

Takashi Uchiyama (17-0, 14KOs) retained his WBA super featherweight title for the third time with a tough eight round stoppage of his Japanese compatriot Takashi Miura (22-2-2, 16KOs) at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan. The ringside doctor stopped the fight after the eighth round because of a bad cut near Miura’s right eye.

Miura did well in the contest, including a knockdown of the champion in the third round. Uchiyama won the title a year ago with a twelfth round knockout of Juan Carlos Salgado.
