"He was a silent professor who espoused family love, proper values, and the importance of hard work."
“He was a silent professor who espoused family love, proper values, and the importance of hard work.  He lived by example.”

The World Boxing Association regrets to announce the passing of Mr. Orlando Alvarado, the uncle of WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza.

We are in mourning today. The WBA family sends its condolences at the passing of Sr. Alvarado to his sister, Elena de Mendoza, wife of retired president Gilberto Mendoza, and to the many other relatives who have been touched by this loss.

“Life has many blessings,” says Gilberto Jesus Mendoza. “In my case, my uncle was one such blessing. He was a silent professor who espoused family love, proper values, and the importance of hard work. He lived by example. He taught that we have to fight for our dreams and have passion for what we do in life.”

We raise a prayer to the Almighty for the eternal repose of his soul.
