Rios batters Antillon for a KO in three

WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (28-0-1, 21 KO) retained his title with a third round stoppage of Urbano Antillon (28-3, 20 KO) in a short, but very active war. Antillon was down twice in the third.

They went to war in the very first round, with punches being exchanged at close range to the head and body by both boxers. In the final minute, it was electric with both boxers trading monster punches to the head and body. They continued to brawl in the second. Rios contolled the action, with Antillon coming back with a hard right that shook Rios in the final ten seconds.

At the start of the third round, Rios dropped Antillon with a hard right hand for the count of eight. Rios jumped right on him and started throwing every punch possible to finish Antillon off. Antillon was doing his best to hold on and looked for big counters to survive. As they traded punches, a crushing right hand sent Antillon down face first for the second time in the fight. Antillon beat the count, he was barely able to stand and tried to move away from an incoming Rios, but Antillon was too hurt to defend himself and the referee stepped in to quickly wave off the fight.
