Tuesday night at Centro de Convenciones Vasco Núñez de Balboa (Hotel El Panama) in Panama City, Panama, WBA #13 ranked Ricardo “El Cientifico” Núñez (16-2, 15 KOs), the hard-hitting 23-year-old from El Chorrera, Panama, knocked out 33-year-old Rafael “El Potro” Hernandez (19-6-2, 15 KOs), from Aragua, Venezuela, at 1:10 of the third round to win the vacant WBA Fedebol super featherweight title.

The two fighters were trading along the ropes when Núñez, in white trunks with black and red trim, caught Hernandez, wearing white trimmed in black, with a blistering right hand that he didn’t see coming.

The referee, Guillermo Perez Pineda, administered the count, but Hernandez was not only down, he was down and out.
