Champion Jarrett Hurd left no doubt of his power in the division by beating Jason Welborn via a fourth round knockout to seal the first defense of the super welterweight championship of the World Boxing Association, in a bout held at Staples Center of Los Angeles, California.

The outcome of the fight was reached at a time of 1:55 of the fourth round, which by that time Hurd had already dominated the previous rounds, making it clear that he recovered from his recent injury and that the champion is ready for the challenges to come.

With this excellent presentation, Hurd, originally from Accokeek, Maryland, improved his professional record to 23 wins and 16 dispatches before the limit.

At the end of their fight and in the midst of their statements the fans were not left waiting, as Jermall Charlo went up to the ring to challenge him and open negotiations for a possible clash by mid-2019.
