Friday night at Club Comunicaciones in Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Esther Anahi Sanchez (11-0, 4 KOs), aka La Indiecita, who hails from Pergamino, dethroned Dahiana Santana (34-7-, 14 KOs), from Santo Domino, Dominican Republic, to win the interim WBA World female featherweight title after 10 rounds of action.

The final scores were 99-91 and 97-93 twice, all in favor of La Indiecita.

Sanchez, 24, took control of the bout at the opening bell. With youth on her side and hunger in her belly, she was too fresh, too skilled, and too determined for her 30-year-old opponent, who hadn’t lost a fight since 2011.

Great things are expected from Sanchez in the years to come. She is a serious fighter. She is a disciplined fighter. She is an exciting fighter. And if her performance Friday night is any indication, she will be a very proud champion, as well.
