16 years ago took place the first KO Drugs boxing festival in the Naciones Unidas Park in Caracas. Some of the contenders of that program later became world champions of the World Boxing Association.

Antonio Cermeno, Aquiles Guzman, Eidy Moya, Guillermo Jones, Joma Gamboa took part in the program that took place in the Jose Beracasa Gym of the Park. Five fights ended by KO and the rest when the distance.

Cermeno fought the Venzuelan José “Cheo” Rojas whom he defeated by unanimous decision. Gilberto González TKO’ed Aquiles Guzman in the first round.

The Trinidarian David Noel KO’ed in two rounds the Panamanian Guillermo “Felino” Jones, while Carlos Barreto defeated Angel Rosario by TKO y four rounds.

Felix Machado defeated Eidy Moya in ten rounds by decision.

Sin that 1997, the KO Drugs has taken consistently in different parts of the world, getting to take the sport as a spearhead in the fight to not allow the scourge catch children and youth. The WBA message through the program is Say yes to sport and not to drugs.
