Charlie Navarro and David Avanesyan face off over a scheduled 12 rounds for the interim WBA World welterweight title at Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo this Saturday, November 7.

Navarro, a 36-year-old who’s fought out of Venezuela since 2004 (25-7, 20 KOs), last entered the ring in April, retiring Elvin Perez in the third. Ranked ninth by the WBA, Navarro hasn’t lost since July 2013, when he was decisioned by Omar Chavez. He’s been stopped only once, in his first loss, by Javier Alberto Mamani, who won by 10th-round TKO in May 2005. The Venezuelan won the WBA Fedelatin welterweight title in June 2008 by decisioning Jose Miguel Torres. He won the vacant WBA Fedecentro welterweight title in July 2012 by stopping Elvin Perez via second-round TKO.

The 27-year-old Russian is a six-year pro (20-1-1, 10 KOs) who most recently fought in June, stopping Dean Byrne by sixth-round TKO. Tenth-ranked by the WBA, “Ava” has only lost once, in his second fight, when he was decisioned by Andrey Klimov in July 2009. He drew against Aslanbek Kozaev in March 2013.
