Rising British contender Pat Brown delivered another emphatic display of power at Co-op Live in Manchester. Facing a physically imposing, previously unbeaten opponent, Brown showed patience, persistence and devastating punching power, stopping the towering southpaw John Hedges in the sixth round to capture the WBA International Cruiserweight Championship.

Hedges, standing 1.98 meters tall, used his size and southpaw stance effectively in the early rounds, relying on his jab and lateral movement to disrupt Brown’s forward pressure. But Brown’s persistence began to pay dividends in the fourth round, when he started cutting off the ring and repeatedly attacking the body with punishing hooks.

The decisive sequence came at 2:36 of the sixth round. After a sustained offensive barrage sent Hedges to the canvas for the first time, Brown sensed the opening and unleashed a devastating combination capped by a vicious left hook to the liver. The shot folded Hedges to his knees, his mouthpiece flying out as he was unable to beat the referee’s 10-count.

With the emphatic stoppage victory, Pat Brown improved his professional record to a perfect 7-0, with all seven wins coming by knockout. The victory further established him as one of the most dangerous emerging forces in the WBA cruiserweight division and reinforced his momentum in 2026.
