The WBA KO Drugs festival returns with an internationally charged fight card. This Saturday, August 15, the iconic Casino Buenos Aires in Argentina’s capital will roll out the red carpet for a night featuring continental championships, official world title eliminators and world-class fighters.
In the night’s main event, Argentine featherweight Adrián Robledo will square off against dangerous Ghanaian John Laryea in an electrifying official WBA featherweight title eliminator at 126 pounds. The winner will earn a direct shot at contending for the world championship. Meanwhile, the 154-pound division will see a closely contested showdown as Italy’s Piergiulio Ruhe and Venezuela’s David Álvarez go head-to-head with the coveted WBA Gold super welterweight title on the line.
The Buenos Aires card will also feature an attractive slate of championship bouts under the WBA’s black-and-gold banner. At flyweight, Spanish Olympian Samuel Carmona will face experienced Venezuelan contender Josber Pérez in a high-intensity battle for the WBA Intercontinental title. At super featherweight, French stylist Sofiane Oumiha will look to showcase his class against rugged local favorite Freddy Laínez, with the WBA Fedelatin USA belt at stake.
South American and women’s boxing will also take center stage. At 140 pounds, Uruguay’s Javier Cardozo will face Argentina’s Rubén Muñoz for the WBA Fedelatin super lightweight title. Meanwhile, at 102 pounds, local fighter Aldana Florencia López will take on Mexico’s Elizabeth Cruz for the WBA Women’s International junior minimumweight championship in a matchup expected to deliver plenty of action inside the ring.
The KO Druga program, a historic WBA initiative, will once again reaffirm its mission in Buenos Aires: using boxing and sport as fundamental tools for youth development, social inclusion and positive change around the world. With a lineup featuring demanding technical matchups and prestigious titles on the line, Casino Buenos Aires will become the epicenter of international boxing this August 15.
