Mauricio Lara will face Leigh Wood in a rematch for the World Boxing Association (WBA) world featherweight title this Saturday at the Manchester Arena, in England.

The Mexican will face the Englishman in a rematch fight after his fight last February in which he dethroned the home fighter with a sensational knockout.

In that fight held in Nottingham, Lara had to fight patiently, insist and come from less to more to knock Wood out in the seventh round. The fight was dominated by the Englishman in the first part, until the Mexican got what he was looking for and finished the fight thanks to his power.

Now “Bronco” arrives with the confidence of being champion. He knows what it’s like to win on British soil since he did it against Wood and Warrington, so everything he learned gives him advantages in his favor. The southpaw will rely on his punching power and accuracy with the intention of retaining his black and gold belt.

For Wood the challenge this time will be to impose his boxing on the ring and manage to diminish the physical condition of the visitor to the point that he ceases to be a threat at some point. It seems that the long distance in the fight is the Englishman’s option to regain the belt and will try to remain in control and stay away from the danger posed by the champion.

This week will take place the promotional activities of the evening and on Friday will be the weigh-in in which both must weigh 126 pounds to be qualified for the fight. Lara has a record of 26 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 19 knockouts, while Wood has 26 wins, 3 losses and 16 knockouts.
