Boxing and motherhood: a well accomplished feat.

It is inevitable to mention all those women who have been involved in boxing since the beginning of the sport’s history.

Those pioneers were courageous and dared to practice boxing in times when it was believed that it was only for men. They have shown us through their efforts that anything is possible and that doors are opened through perseverance, sacrifice and overcoming gender stigmas.

Many female boxers are and have been mothers during the development of their careers. Some become pregnant along the way and prove that there is nothing impossible for a woman who has clear goals in life.

Motherhood is not in conflict with boxing, on the contrary. It seems that being moms is an extrinsic motivation for the fighters, who come back stronger than ever after having their babies and more motivated than before.

Many of them become mothers throughout their careers, stating that their main objective is to be an example for their children to move forward with their careers’ success.

What a great example for their sons to see their mothers boxing in the ring, making it clear that women already occupy a very important place in the world’s boxing card and that their legacy is physical and mental strength and most importantly, the pride of being a woman, a mother, and an athlete at the same time.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the female boxers of the world!
