At the beginning of the week, a new presentation of the World Boxing Association absolute champion at 115 pounds, Clara Lescurat, who will fight against Daniela Asenjo at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel, in France, on May 17, was confirmed.

The Argentinean fighter, Lescurat, who became professional with a remarkable amateur background, became world champion on June 24, 2022 after unanimously beating the Mexican Maribel Ramirez on the scorecards. A few months later she made her first successful defense against another Aztec warrior, Naylea Gil Sanabia at the Casino of Buenos Aires and so far she remains undefeated in 8 performances, 3 of which have ended by the chloroform route.

In this opportunity, “Clarita”, as those who know her call her, will face the native of Valdivia, Chile, Daniela “La Leona” Asenjo, who was FEDELATIN super flyweight champion and disputed this same belt owned by Lescurat in April 2022 before Ramirez she lost to the boxer from Argentina.

Then, also last June, Asenjo managed to roar hard against the North American Casey Morton and rose as IBO super flyweight world champion. And in her last presentation, she had a unanimous first defense of her title against Peruvian Linda Laura Lecca in Chile. This is how she has 13 victorious fights with 3 knockouts, 3 falls and 3 draws since her debut in November 2012.

The WBA champion, Lescurat, has a great challenge ahead, but her competitive and sporting spirit as a Physical Education teacher and athlete, keeps her focused inside the gym day after day for these challenges. Asenjo’s toughness and Lescurat’s athleticism and technique will once again put women’s boxing in the spotlight.
