The second of three stages in the 7th Edition of the Gilberto Mendoza International Festival took place this weekend in Barranquilla, Colombia, with more than 40 athletes from eight national leagues that gathered at the Cuadrilátero Élite Gymnasium facilities.

With the support of the Colombian Boxing Federation, Alberto Agámez Producciones and the gym itself, the second event was held in honor of the President Emeritus of the World Boxing Association (WBA).

The first event took place last March 11 in Turmero, Venezuela, while it will end with a third event to be held this coming Thursday in Panama City.

Colombia’s version was special because it counted with the presence of Antonio Cervantes and Fidel Bassa, two boxing legends who interacted with the young fighters who were in the ring on Friday and Saturday.

It was a great opportunity for the leagues of Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Córdoba, César, Guajira, Magdalena and the military league of the Armed Forces to have a sporting exchange, which also served as preparation for the qualifiers for the National Games to be held in this country soon.

The event was broadcasted internationally through the official WBA YouTube channel and was a resounding success in honor of Mendoza.
