Women's boxing continues its growth

Since the beginning of women’s boxing until now, it has been a difficult road for female fighters. A road that they have traveled despite the difficulties and in which they have achieved results based on their effort and work.

On International Women’s Day, we must emphasize the integrity of the protagonists of this sport, who demonstrate every day what they are capable of and break barriers at every moment to win important places in the sport.

They have managed to star in major events and the most obvious example was the confrontation between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano in April 2022. On that occasion they headlined at the fight at Madison Square Garden, New York, and not only did they make a great fight, but it was the best of the year in the annual awards of the World Boxing Association (WBA) over any male fight.

Now it is becoming more and more common to see them in big events and the public has begun to appreciate the work they do much more. Something that they have earned thanks to their performances.

Women’s boxing pits the best against the best and that is a big key to why they have grown so much. Seeing competitive fights between champions generates a great show and is the reason why there are currently up to seven undisputed champions.

Amanda Serrano, at featherweight; Alycia Baumgardner, at super featherweight; Katie Taylor, at lightweight; Chantelle Cameron, at super lightweight; Jessica McCaskill, at welterweight; Claressa Shields, at middleweight; and Franchón Crews-Dezurn, at super middleweight, are the members of such a special group of owners of the four most important belts in the world.

The WBA is very happy for what they have achieved and for the projection, not only of the champions, but of all the fighters who make this sport something special and unique.
