Mauricio “Bronco” Lara, new World Boxing Association featherweight champion, arrived in Mexico City at dawn with his promise fulfilled: to bring the black and gold belt he won last Saturday after knocking out Leigh Wood.

The current champion was greeted by family and friends, who chanted his name with banners shortly before he crossed the arrivals gate of Terminal 2 of the Benito Juarez International Airport that serves the Mexican capital.

After hugging his close ones, Lara told the press that he will rest for a few days but that his goal is to be champion for a long time and that he has no problem if he makes the trilogy fight vs. Josh Warrington or if he goes for a rematch with Leigh Wood.

He also expressed his interest in unifying all titles and thanked the WBA and its president, Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, for opening the doors of the pioneer organization and giving him the opportunity to fulfill his dream: to become world champion.
