Cuban Pablo Vicente will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight international belt this Saturday against Venezuelan Angel Rodriguez at the Vasco Nunez de Balboa Convention Center in Panama City.

Vicente will make the second defense of his title. He has been champion since June 2022 when he defeated Colombian Manuel Felipe Gonzalez during the WBA Drug KO held in Argentina. He returned to the ring for his first defense on August 27 and defeated Mexican Miguel Arevalo in Panama to retain the crown for the first time.

Vicente is a 29-year-old fighter who has gone from strength to strength in his career and currently has not lost a fight since 2018. The West Indian stands at 1.79m, which is a big advantage at 130 pounds, and knows how to exploit distance with good use of the jab and punching combinations.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, is a veteran who comes from fighting a world title eliminator in his most recent bout last July 16. He lost a unanimous decision to Lamont Roach Jr. and is looking to get back on the winning track.

He knows what it is like to fight as a visitor and the clearest example is when he traveled to Russia in February last year to defeat Mark Urvanov in an excellent demonstration. The South American is a great counter puncher with a refined style and a good hook to the liver, which has given him success during his career.

Different promotional activities will take place this week and on Friday will be the weigh-in ceremony. Vicente comes into the fight with a record of 20 wins, 1 loss and 16 knockouts, while Rodriguez has 20 wins, 2 losses and 10 knockouts.
