Huu-Toan Lee retained his World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian minimumweight title by defeating Filipino Jake Amparo by split decision on Wednesday at the Spaceplus Arena, Bangkok, Thailand.

Toan Le, who is the first Vietnamese to be ranked in the WBA rankings in history, is continuing his stride in professional boxing and passed a big test against an experienced opponent to maintain his rise in world boxing.

The Vietnamese fighter fought from start to finish to get a hard-fought victory and prove that he can adapt to any situation and come out with his hand up despite the circumstances.

Amparo put up a tough fight and proved to be a worthy opponent throughout the 10-round fight. The Filipino put pressure on the fight and showed his desire to take the regional belt, but in the end he came up just short of victory.

Toan Le now has a record of 6 victories in the same number of appearances, with 3 knockouts. Amparo’s record stands at 11 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 2 knockouts.
