Dmitry Bivol took care of all the doubts about his fight with Gilberto Ramirez this Saturday in Abu Dhabi. A fight that on paper was very evenly matched was resolved by the World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Heavyweight Super Champion in a masterful way to retain his crown and reaffirm himself as one of the best in the world.

Bivol outclassed “Zurdo” in every aspect of the bout to end up winning on the judges’ scorecards, which showed 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111 as evidence of the reigning champion’s dominance.

The 31-year-old fighter made masterful use of his jab and always anticipated with that punch to control the fight and suppress the height advantage the Mexican had over him. His hand speed was key to generate combinations hurt Ramirez and were adding points in favor of Bivol.

The champion limited the challenger to stay away and attack little, a situation that allowed him to be in advantage at all times and gave him the opportunity to throw big power punches that put the big moments in the fight.

It was a new defense for Bivol, whose reign and undefeated record remain. He now has 21 wins, 11 by knockout. Ramirez lost his first professional fight and leaves a record of 44 wins, 1 setback and 30 knockouts.
