They met again and the Mexican warrior imposed her boxing. Erika Cruz Hernandez remains the World Boxing Association featherweight champion after unanimously defeating Jelena Mrdjenovich this Saturday night in Hermosillo, Mexico.

The first bell rang and both fighters advanced with determination to center of the ring. From the moment she threw her first jab from distance, “Dinamita” Cruz made it clear to Mrdjenovich that she was not going to let her get the belt back.

The experienced former champion, Mrdjenovich, could not break her opponent no matter how many advances she made. In each connection of two combinations, Cruz responded with 4 punches that closed in the middle zone like a whirlwind. And beyond the untidiness that could be seen on the canvas, Cruz reached the 100-90 of the judges for imposing his aggressiveness, pressure in attack and assertive combinations.

Thus, the first successful defense leaves Cruz with 15 wins with 3 knockouts and only 1 loss. While the emblematic Canadian Jelena Mrdjenovich, at 38 years of age, has 41 wins with 19 quick finishes, 12 setbacks and 3 draws.
