Former World Boxing Association (WBA) world champion, American Daniel Roman, announced his retirement from professional boxing on Tuesday through his social networks. 

Roman decides to hang up his gloves at the age of 32 after a successful career in which he was both WBA and IBF super bantamweight champion. He won his black and gold belt in September 2017 when he defeated Shun Kubo, in Japan.

He made four title defenses until he ran into Murodjon Akhmadaliev in January 2020 and lost by majority decision in a very close and competitive fight. His last fight was last June when he lost to Stephen Fulton in Minneapolis.

Roman retires with a record of 28 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw and 10 knockouts. He never received a knockout and gave great battles in his career. The WBA wishes him success in everything he undertakes from now on and thanks him for always having proudly represented the black and gold belt.
