Undefeated Filipino Carl Jammes Martin will make the first defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) Asian title against Tanzanian Charles Tondo next Saturday, July 30 at the SM City San Lazaro, Manila.

Martin will put on the line the super bantamweight title he won last March 12 when he defeated compatriot Ronnie Baldonado by technical knockout in 11 rounds.

The Manila native is a 23-year-old fighter and one of the most interesting prospects in the Asian country. He is undefeated in his career and has shown good boxing and occasional power, so he is looking to project himself globally.

Tondo is also 23 years old and wants to make a surprise against the local. The African is a southpaw guard and has fought in England a couple of times, so he knows what it’s like to be on the road.

Martin has 19 wins, no losses and 16 knockouts. Tondo has 12 wins, 5 losses, 2 draws and 5 fights won before the limit.
