After his victory last Saturday against George Kambosos Jr. the American Devin Haney became the undisputed lightweight champion and, of course, the man to beat in a division full of talent.

The new World Boxing Association (WBA) 135-pound super champion also captured the IBF and WBO belts, while already holding the WBC one.

Haney did it the hard way. He had to travel all the way to Australia to face the Kambosos and managed to dominate him with an excellent performance in the away condition.

In addition to being a visitor, he had to wait until the last minute for Bill Haney, his father and trainer, to obtain the regulatory documents to enter the Oceanic country, which created uncertainty until the last minute.

He finally stepped into the ring and did what he knows. The use of the jab was the key to the fight and “The Dream” was able to keep the local fighter at bay, take advantage of his reach and height, and take most of the rounds to finish in a unanimous decision of 116-112, 116-112 and 118-110.

He has now become the top fighter in the division and the opponent everyone wants to face. He is the undisputed champion of the division at just 23 years of age and continues to add achievements to his career.

Haney’s undefeated record extended to 28 wins, 15 of them by knockout. Kambosos, meanwhile, now has 20 wins, 1 loss and 10 knockouts.
