With the general wellbeing priority as its flagship, the AIBA, which has changed its name to IBA – International Boxing Association – had to suspend the Women’s World Boxing Championship in 2021. Finally, the 12th edition will be held from May 8 to 20 in the city of Istanbul, Turkey.

Ninety-three countries will participate with around 420 boxers born between 1981 and 2002. This is a record number of countries in this event, which was born in Scraton, United States. Turkey will again host the event after having hosted the second edition in 2002 and this time will have the debut of several developing countries such as Cape Verde, Chile, Ghana, Guinea, Haiti, Haiti, Kosovo, Kuwait, Macao, Pakistan, Paraguay, Sierra Leone, Tonga and Sudan.

Many of the world’s elite amateur boxing stars will be present at this eagerly awaited world championship. For example, Ireland’s number one boxer Kellie Harrington, Yang Xiaoli from China, Nazym Kyzaibay, Dina Zholaman, Valentina Khalzova and Lazzat Kungeibayeva from Kazakhstan, Atheyna Bylon from Panama, Stanimira Petrova from Bulgaria, Lucia Perez from Argentina and Ingrit Valencia from Colombia among many other boxers who yearn to continue making history.

On this occasion, professional boxer Estelle Mossely, number 2 in the World Boxing Association’s lightweight world ranking, will be the ambassador of the Women’s World Championship in Turkey.
