Michel Soro continues to prove that he is one of the strongest rivals of the 154 pound division as he retained his gold title of the World Boxing Association (WBA) against Cedric Vitu at the Accor Hotel Arena in Paris. The Frenchman stopped his rival in the fifth round of the contest in emphatic fashion.

Soro took the initiative throughout the contest while using his ring intelligence to wear down his opponent as the rounds passed. His superiority was shown at all times to the delight of the fans who attended the fight held in the capital of France – which had Arsen Goulamirian defending his WBA Super World Cruiserweight Title against Kane Watts on the same evening.

Soro used his combinations and his hand speed as weapons in his victory. For the fifth round the punishment was too much and the referee had to step in, stopping the action to give Soro a technical knockout victory.

The Frenchman scored another good victory for his career and intends to be a rival of Julian Williams or Erislandy Lara in the immediate future in order to achieve the goal of winning a world title.

Soro’s record is now 35 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 24 knockouts. Vitu, meanwhile, left with a record of 47 wins, 4 losses and 19 knockouts.

Goulamirian scores 4th round knockout to retain WBA Super Title
