Can Xu had a great showing in his second bout in the United States, becoming the new featherweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) by beating Puerto Rican native Jesus Rojas to win the title on Saturday night. The Chinese native surprised the champion and the public at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, and fulfilled his promise to take the belt back to his native country.

The cards came in 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112 in a confrontation that lifted everyone from their seats from the opening bell. Both Xu and Rojas held much of the fight in the middle of the ring and exchanged blows to the head at almost every moment to offer a real war to those attending and those who saw the bout on television.

Rojas did not let go of his belt easily and stood in the pocket, throwing at his challenger, who also did not flee from the confrontation. In the end, the Asian managed to win most of the exchanges thanks to his combinations, which were more numerous in several sections of the fight, earning the decision of the judges.

Xu left with a balance of 16 wins, 2 losses, and 2 knockouts. Rojas‘s record dropped to 26 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws, and 19 knockouts.
