One year and two months after his last time in the ring, Kazakh native Beibut Shumenov gave evidence of being back this Saturday night at the Barys Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan, by stopping Hizni Altunkaya of Germany in nine rounds the for the Cruiserweight Championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA).

After intense punishment, in which Altunkaya was sent two times to the canvas in the first nine rounds, Shumenov finally managed to make his enemies team give up at the end of the ninth after finding out that he had an injury of the ribs.

With this result, Altunkaya left his professional record at 30-2 with 17 knockouts, while Beibut improved to 18-2 with 12 knockouts. This was the tenth championship fight of Shumenov, who achieved his eighth in this type of fighting.

Beibut has already been a two-time world champion, since between 2010 and 2014 he held the WBA championship in the light heavyweight division, and after that, with intermittent breaks, he ascended to the cruiserweight title which he just won again.
