The World Boxing Association continues to make strides in the development of regional pugilism, specifically in China.

On Friday, September 9, at Shanghai University of Sport’s Comprehensive Gym in Shanghai, China, under the auspices of WBA-China, bantamweight Tao Ji (10-6-2), from Da Lian, China, fights Xhinghua Wang (12-13-1), from Harbin, China, in a 10-round main event.

The co-main features super middleweights An Bi Liang (3-0), hailing from China, and Andrey Kalyuzhnyy (11-2), from Da Lian, China, by way of Vladivostok, Russia. The fight is scheduled for six rounds.

WBA-China beyond the ring

The WBA recognizes that boxing is about more than boxers. It also involves supporting technical staff.

So the New Zealand official, Bruce McTavish held a seminar for judges and referees in Shanghai to continue with the development of regional pugilism.

“The integral development of boxing is what we look for and what we are achieving,” said WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza. “China is a living example. We intend to support boxing in China, to support the life and tradition of this beautiful sport.”

The event was well received by the audience, which will undoubtedly encourage the WBA and WBA-China to continue presenting seminars of this kind.
