Friday night at Zénith d’Auvergne in Cournon d’auvergne, Puy-de-Dôme, France, WBA World female super lightweight champion Ana Laura Esteche (11-4-3, 2 KOs), aka “La Monita,” from Buenos Aires, Argentina, retained her title via majority decision draw against Farida El Hadrati (9-0-1, 5 KOs), the undefeated European  super lightweight champion from Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dôme, France.

Judge Andriy Baliasov scored the fight 97-91, while judges Giuseppe Quartarone and Stefano Carozza both had it 94-94.

El Hadrati down in round three. Esteche deducted one point in the ninth.

The Frenchwoman felt she had done enough to win the fight. “La Monita” started strong but faded as the rounds progressed. El Hadrati controlled the tempo and was an elusive target.

When the decision was announced, the crowd voiced its displeasure while El Hadrati stormed out of the ring in protest.
