On Tuesday, March 15, the basketball game between Panteras de Miranda and Toros de Aragua of the Professional Basketball League of Venezuela (LPB) was played in memory of Gilberto Mendoza, President Emeritus of the World Boxing Association.

With WBA President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza in attendance, along with WBC lightweight champion Jorge Linares, there was a minute of silence before the tipoff to start the game.

The prominent former Venezuelan baseball player and owner of Panteras de Miranda, Bob Abreu, who joined the Mendoza and Alvarado families in mourning, was also present at the event.

Toros de Aragua won the game. After the win, the victory cup was graciously received in memory of Gilberto Mendoza.
