The World Boxing Association championships committee ordered the heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev and the interim champion, Luis Ortiz from Cuba to begin negotiations for the upcoming title fight.

The negotiation period shall of 30 days beginning today.

In case both parties do not reach an agreement the WBA will summon a purse bid.
The Uzbek Chagaev is the champion since June 6, 2014, as has a record of 23-2-1, 20 KO’s, while Ortiz is the interim champion and h as a record of 22-0, 19 KO’s.

Ortiz won the belt on September 11 after defeating Lateef Kayode by TKO 1.
