Marquez: I’m Going To Knock Juan Diaz Out Again
WBA Lightweight Super Champion Juan Manuel Marquez is preparing in camp for his “fight of the year” rematch on July 31 with “Baby Bull” Juan Diaz at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Marquez spoke to reporters as he trained at Nacho Beristain’s Romanza Gym in Iztacalco, Mexico. Marquez said he wants to look very impressive after taking a beating at 147-pounds last September against Floyd Mayweather Jr. He expects Diaz to go for broke by trying to win by any means necessary because he lost two of his last three fights. Marquez made a prediction to the press, announcing that he plans to beat Diaz by “knockout” for the second time. He wants to end the fight in the same form as their first meeting last February when Marquez knocked him out in nine rounds. He has a plan on paper to gain control early and break Diaz down once again for the knockout victory.
