Undefeated Mexico City boxer Irma Garcia (7-0, 1KO) was honored with a special ceremony and presented with her WBA bantamweight title. One of the special guests to take part in the festivities was Mexican superstar Juan Manuel Marquez. In January, Garcia pulled off a big upset over 17-0 Janeth Perez to capture the WBA title with a close ten round unanimous decision. In April they had a rematch and Garcia retained her belt with a close ten round split decision.
