Irishman Brian Magee was crowned new WBA interim super middleweight champion on Saturday night, defeating Costa Rican hero Jaime Barboza by unanimous decision in the main event of the WBA’s XXIII “KO to Drugs” Festival at the National Gymnasium in San Jose, Costa Rica. Scores were 116-112, 118-110 and 117-111.

In the co-feature Costa Rican idol Bryan “Tiquito” Vasquez won a thrilling eleven round unanimous decision over Mexican Allan Herrera by scores of 109.5-100.5, 108.5-103.5 and 109-101 to retain the WBA Fedelatin title.
