Cazares retains WBA Super Flyweight title

At the Centro de Convenciones in Tlalnepantla, Mexico, WBA super flyweight champion Hugo Cazares (32-6-2, 23 KOs) stopped a game Everardo Morales (34-15-2, 23 KOs) in the seventh round. The fighters exchanged hard punches early, trying to knock each other out, both Cazares and Morales were cut around their eyes from exchanging hard power punch combinations.

Cazares began to put the heat on him in third, sending him down from hard punches. The fight ended by knockout after one minute of action in the seventh. Cazares shot off a flurry of blows on Morales and left hook that sent him to the canvas. Morales was in a lot pain and could not recover. The referee stopped the fight.

“I am happy with the victory and I congratulate Morales because he was a top contender. The cut would not let me see well and I lost a bit of visibility, but in the end I went and got the victory. Now I plan to rest a bit and think about what’s coming up,” Cazares said.
