Amir Khan: “I Have The Speed, Power To Stop Malignaggi”

WBA Super Lightweight champion Amir Khan is less than two weeks away from his fight with Paulie Malignaggi on May 15 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Khan has been waiting for this fight for a long time. He dreamed of fighting in America since his amateur days and now he gets his big shot. “It’s every fighter’s dream to fight in America,” says Khan to the Vancouver News. “The time has come and I want to make the most of it. I’ve fought all around the world as an amateur. A lot of people want to see me fight in America. If you want to become a big star in boxing, this is the place to do it.”

Khan has been working on several plans to approach the fight with Malignaggi. Khan’s trainer Freddie Roach has put together two plans of strategy. If Plan A fails, Khan will quickly adjust by switching to Plan B. It all depends on how Malignaggi approaches the fight.

“We’ve got a game plan me and Freddie have been working on. We’ve got a Plan A and a Plan B and if Plan A doesn’t work, then Plan B is going to work. Paulie is quite awkward and he can get a fighter quite frustrated. I’ve got the speed and power to stop him. We just have to stick to the game plan,” Khan said.
