Mendoza- I am pleased with the development of the program Boxeo Olimpico de Calle in VenezuelaThe World Boxing Association President, Gilberto Mendoza, attended the awards to the best Venezuelan boxing figures held in Caracas this Thursday.

During this ceremony he acknowledged the performance of the Interim champion, Ogleidis “La Niña” Suárez as Boxer of the Year, becoming the first lady to win such recognition.

Mendoza also received the Gold Medal as Personality of the Year, and the Street Boxing award given to William Gonzalez.

“I am pleased that the Street Olympic Boxing is keeps on going and it is reality in this country.”  Those were Mendoza’s supporting words to the program.

He also said the street boxing reminded him the “WBA KO Drugs Program”, because it develops talent and activity where many boxers were born, like Jorge Linares, who weather we want it or not, is a very popular to the media of the country.

Mendoza said to Johnny Gonzalez, journalist of the Venezuelan newspaper “El Lider” that: “The idea should not be to make just boxers or champions in the future, but to form men and women who can be very productive to society”.

The WBA president also said that they expect to give more support Street Boxing, and create an Alliance with the Ministry of Popular Power for Sport, and said, “I am sure that from the Street Boxing will come out many champions.”

El presidente de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, Gilberto Mendoza, estuvo presente en la premiación a los mejores del pugilismo venezolano, evento realizado durante la mañana de este jueves en Caracas.

Durante tal actividad se reconoció el desempeño de la campeona interina Ogleidis “La Niña” Suárez como boxeadora del año, convirtiéndose en la primera dama en ganar tal distinción.

Igualmente, Mendoza recibió una medalla de oro como Personalidad del Año, y el programa Boxeo de Calle una distinción por mantenerse en pro del desarrollo del deporte.

“Me satisface que el Boxeo Olímpico de Calle tome forma. Es una realidad en el país”, fueron las palabras de apoyo que Mendoza expresó acerca del programa.

Comentó que el Boxeo de Calle le recuerda al “KO a las Drogas de la AMB, por el desarrollo de talento y la actividad de donde salieron boxeadores como Jorge Linares, que quieran o no es el púgil mediático del país”.

Mendoza, recalcó al periodista Johnny González, del Diario Líder en Venezuela, que: “La idea no es sólo hacer boxeadores, campeones en el futuro, sino que puedan formarse socialmente”.

El presidente de la AMB también dijo que esperan poder apoyar más al Boxeo de Calle, y crear una especie de alianza que involucre al Ministerio del Poder Popular para el Deporte “estoy seguro que del Boxeo de Calle saldrán muchos campeones”, finalizó a la prensa venezolana.
