On December 31, Japan will have a historic night of boxing – as a total of five world championships will be at stake betwene two cards – three in Tokyo and two in Osaka. The JBC (Japan Boxing Commission) has stated that this is the first time in Japanese boxing history where five world championships were being defended on the same day.

At the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, undefeated WBA super featherweight world champion Takashi “KO Dynamite” Uchiyama (18-0-1, 15KOs) will face Bryan “The Tiquito” Vasquez (29-0, 15KOs) in his the sixth defense of his title he won in January 2010 by knocking out Juan Carlos Salgado, who is the current IBF world champion.

In another 12-round bout for the WBC super flyweight world title, Yota “Magical Box” Sato (25-2-1, 12KOs) will risk his crown for the second time against undefeated dangerous puncher Ryo Akaho (19-0-2, 12KOs).

Also,  Japanese super flyweight Kohei Kono (27-7, 10KOs) will challenge the champion of the WBA, Tepparith “Astro Boy” Kokietgym (21-2, 13KOs).

On the show at the Bodymaker Colosseum in Osaka,  undefeated former world champion Kazuto Ioka (10-0, 6KOs) and Mexican flyweight Jose “Torito” Rodriguez (28-1, 17KOs) will battle for the vacant WBA junior flyweight title. Nicaraguan Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez was made the “super champion” by the WBA and the “regular” title became vacant.

Also, Ryo Miyazaki (17-0-3, 10KOs) and Thailand’s Pornsawan Porpramook (26-4-1, 16KOs) will clash for the vacant title WBA minimumweight title that Kazuto Ioka dropped.
