Today we remember the Panamanian Elías Córdova Jr, who was born 98 years ago in the capital of Panama. He was President of the World Boxing Association. He died six years ago, but we still remember his legacy to the boxing world.

Cordova was a Surgeon, and entered the Panama Professional Boxing Committee in 1957, and was its President for 18 years, being an important part of the local boxing development at the time.

It was a key piece for the staging of a dozen world title bouts, in less than two years.

He joined the WBA Executive Committee in 1965 and became Vice President until 1974, then won the Presidency to become the first WBA Latino President, after half a century of existence. He directed the organization for three consecutive periods.
