Kameda edges De La Mora to retain title

Kameda - De la MoraWBA bantamweight champion Koki Kameda (26-1, 16 KOs) was able to edge previously undefeated Mexican challenger David De La Mora (23-1, 16 KOs) at the Nihon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The scores were 114-113, 115-113 and 115-112. Kameda’s knockdown in the third round was a big key in the scoring. He predicted a very tough fight and he got it, as the bout became more of a chessmatch with Kameda looking for openings in every round and neither fighter being too aggressive, which made some of the rounds much closer than needed.
