On October 18, 2014, Jamaican Nicholas Walters will attempt to continue writing his name in the boxing history, not only in his country but worldwide. “I am very hungry and I am confident I will defeat Nonito Donaire, I believe I will knock him out in 5 or 6 rounds”.

Walters, World Boxing Association featherweight 126 lbs world champion will fightthe undisputed champion, the Filippino Donaire. “He says I have not fought anybody and that he has knocked out more opponents than I have, and I say, sure but none of them in 126 lbs.”

The Caribbean boxer trains in Panama, with Celso Chávez. “I have used Liborio (Solis), a Mexican and another Venezuelan to work intelligence, strength and speed. We will do two or three more sparring sessions and we are done. I have worked hard.”

He believes he will win in any way, “I am ready to box, because I don’t think Nonito is coming to fight. I wish he does, to get it over with,” said Walters in Spanish with a strong accent.

The champion constantly repeats, he is not hungrier than I am, because if he wants to be the champion to buy a house, I want to buy 10. I am a man of gym, and never get away. I am in the gym all year long, I was born there. My first toy was a pair of boxing gloves my father gave me.” Walters says.

“I like to win with a beautiful boxing, not running. I want to be the kind of boxer who defeats a great figure like Mayweather, than when he leaves the ring, he has four good fight offers. I want that everyone wants to fight with me.” Says Walters while watching a Muhammad Ali fight, and ads “I want to be like him, fight that beautiful and knock out as well.”

About his present WBA opponent, Nonito Donaire says “he has a good jab, fights well but I will do it better. I am not worried; he is the one who should be worried”.

He says he has never had any weight problem, and this will not be the exception. “I will travel in 126 lbs, because one ussualy gains a couple of pounds, that I will get rid of as soon as I get there” and says, “after defeating him, at the post fight press conference I will tell Nonito, “Thank you for allow me to fight with someone”.
