Alberto “El Explosivo” Machado (21-0, 17 KO’s) and Andrew “El Chango” Cancio (19-4-2, 14 KO’s) held a press conference in Los Angeles for their fight this Saturday at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

Machado, under the direction of legendary trainer Freddie Roach, seeks to consolidate his status in the division in his third defense of the WBA crown at 130 pounds.

On the other hand, Cancio will seek to be crowned and thus achieve the goal that was set since he entered the professional boxing rankings 12 years ago.

Both men were very respectful of one another but also had firm promises of fireworks to happen in the ring this Saturday in Indio California.

The first to take the microphone was the challenger Cancio, who expressed the following: “I thank Machado for giving me the opportunity, we respect him and therefore we are prepared to the fullest”.

“It will be a very exciting fight, I come to deliver the best of me and show quality,” added the American.

The pride of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, was the second to speak and he did so with great authority, showing that he is indeed the champion coming into the fight.

“We know that my rival is good, we take the camp with the seriousness it deserves, because we want to be successful in this defense,” said Machado.

“What is happening in my career is not chance or luck, it is part of a process that I have been doing with my team for many years. I fulfilled my dream of being a champion, I was main event on HBO, and now we are going to continue to put Puerto Rico at the top,” said “El Explosivo”.

With the press conference completed, only the official weigh-in ceremony on Friday is yet to happen, so that both fighters could get into the ring in the Golden Boy Promotions main event on DAZN.
