Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara (25-2-2, 14KO’s) is set to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super World Super Welterweight Title Saturday, April 7th, against “Swift” Jarrett Hurd (21-0, 15KO’s).  The fight will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be aired live on Showtime premium cable network.

Today was the final press conference for the fight and it was held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino where the fight is taking place.

The challenger, Hurd, had a very loud support crowd on hand that made the trip from his hometown to cheer him on.  Hurd said that he is very well prepared for the fight and that he had a great training camp.

He reiterated that this is the fight he has wanted due to Lara being the longest reigning champion, saying “I have studied him a lot and I did not come into this sport to be #3, I came to be #1.”

Hurd also mentioned that he wanted to “shut up” Lara, or whomever on his team had said over social media that Hurd was “a typical DC clown” and that Hurd was lucky to be getting a payday from Lara.

“Someone has to pay for all that,” said Hurd, “he just bought a house and is living the American dream but my American dream has just begun.”

Hurd ended by saying that he has the size and power to hurt anyone in the division and then told Lara “You are experienced but you ain’t never experienced what it’s like to go twelve rounds with me.”

The champion Lara, on the other hand, looked like he was having just another day at the office as he is perhaps not just the veteran inside the ring but outside of it as well.

“All the guys talking are not getting in the ring with me”, said Lara, “so we have to give him credit for accepting the fight.  No need to talk anymore, its time to fight.”

Lara pointed to other taller, bigger, fighters he has faced such as Paul Williams and how he did not have any trouble with his style.  Lara figures it to be no different on Saturday night against Swift Jarrett Hurd.

“This is his first big fight so calm down,” said Lara to Hurd, “you are all talk and I am going to put you to work!”

The stage is set for a fight that all the fans are buzzing about and many are seeing as a pick ‘em fight between the slick boxing super world champion Erislandy Lara and the young hungry puncher Jarrett Hurd.
