World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight champion Terri Harper will make the first defense of her crown against legend Cecilia Braekhus on May 20 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

The bout was included in the Matchroom Boxing event whose main bout will be between Chantelle Cameron and Katie Taylor, for the undisputed super lightweight championship .

Harper defeated Hannah Rankin in September 2022 to storm into the 154-pound division and become the black-and-gold Queen. The Brit earned a wide unanimous decision on that occasion after a strong performance in Nottingham.

Now she meets Braekhus, a legend of the sport and one of the most important fighters in history. The Norwegian lost her long reign at welterweight during 2020 to Jessica McCaskill. In 2021 she faced the same opponent in a rematch but could not overcome her either.

Last year she returned in this new weight class to defeat Marisa Portillo and now the veteran is facing a new opportunity to become world champion and she wants to take advantage of it.

Harper has a record of 13 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw and 6 knockouts, while Braekhus has 37 wins, 2 losses and 9 knockouts.
