The Aztec Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and the British native Rocky Fielding held a press conference in New York to promote their fight for the Super Middleweight Title of the World Boxing Association (WBA), in a fight that will be staged at the mythical Madison Square Garden on December 15th.

Alvarez and Fielding appeared before the New York and international press, in a meeting full of mutual respect.

The first to speak was Fielding, who stated the following: “This is the opportunity of my life, I will give everything I have.”

“Canelo is a great boxer and we are aware of that, but I come from the United Kingdom to give my people joy. I am in my weight and I will take advantage of all my advantages,” said the world champion.

The second to speak was Alvarez, who said: “We are here to make history, fighting in New York was always a dream and now it is a reality.”

“It’s a challenge to move up, he (Rocky) is bigger, he has reach, but we’re working to get the triple championship,” Alvarez said.

Fielding will fulfill the first defense of the crown that snatched the German Tyron Zeuge last July.

For his part, “Canelo” will seek to win his third title in the WBA, after having reigned in the super welterweight division and being the current super world middleweight champion.

The match will be presented by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing promoters and Golden Boy Promotions of Oscar De La Hoya while the transmission of the event will be through the DAZN platform.
